Collage with Paper & Stencil
This page shows the use of applying various kinds of colored and textured paper into the journal page using glue stick or matte medium. They were placed randomly without any forethought. Then various simple stencils were used to create the spiral, dots and flower stem. Acrylic washes were also layered to give it texture and unify the page. Finally, the face was quickly painted with acrylic paint, which prompted the spontaneous words that wanted to be stamped in the blocks of paper. Only after it was done and I did the page of spontaneous writing did the sense of self empowerment and sovereignty come out. So always be open to just starting to build the page without worrying about what will come of it and often times you may be surprised!
Because She Could...
"Because she could, she did. She didn’t wait for someone else to tell her she could, she had done that all her life. This time there was only her. Her permission. Her allowance. Her acceptance and Her approval. What she couldn’t have done before didn’t matter anymore. It was irrelevant now. I was a new day and the old rules didn’t apply."
