This journal entry uses a scrap of paper with a stamp of a Rooster and words that I got at a conference years ago. It didn’t mean anything to me at all, but I allowed myself to just paste it to the page with glue stick and start drawing and painting whatever came out. In the end it turned out to be one of the most insightful messages to date and succinctly summed up what I was feeling about being surrounded by people who did not want to look inside and take responsibility for their lives. It also, as always, gave me a message about my life too for me to contemplate.
My page of spontaneous writing is below: “Rooster sits on a rooftop at the break of day just looking out at the world. Not a peep out of him. What’s he waiting for? He is made of stone and his features are chiseled into the immovable substance so as to withstand the test of time. But why the hell did they make his mouth closed so he can’t cock-a-doodle-do? His job is to wake people up, but he can’t do that if his mouth remains forever shut! But they don’t want him to wake them. They want to stay sleeping in their own beds that they made, dreaming of a brighter day…..” |
