I Can Fly

Today I am working on the prototype for an upcoming workshop called Painting Without a Plan. So I thought I would share some process photos that show some of the techniques I use to get rich, spontaneous surfaces with depth and translucency. The most important thing is that I have no plan, sketch or even idea when I begin this process. It is totally intuitive, somatic and very much about feeling the materials and letting them guide me. Then an image or idea often emerges from the abstract base layers the then leads me onward. It really isn't about trying to make a great work of art as much as it is about allowing out intuitive, inner guidance to take the reins and trusting it to lead us where we need to go.
